Celebrity Comedians Unite For Laugh Aid: 4-Hour Livestream Benefitting Comedy Gives Back’s COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund

Laughter is healing, and during the COVID-19 public health crisis a renowned group of celebrity comedians, including Ray Romano, Iliza Shlesinger, Howie Mandel, Nikki Glaser, Bill Burr, Marc Maron, Patton Oswalt  and many more will be performing April 4, 2020 at 4pm pst (4/4 at 4pm) via a livestream to lift the nation’s spirits as well as to raise money for an emergency relief fund.

Laugh Aid will be produced in partnership with Comedy Gives Back, Laugh Lounge, Starburns Audio, All Things Comedy, Earwolf and Comedy Central. The goal of LAUGH AID is to entertain the world through technology as we sequester in our homes, while supporting the comedy community that lives and breathes with a live audience.

Comedians will be creating content specifically for Laugh Aid, be it a special edition podcast, an interview, or peak into their family life during this crazy time and we will bring it into your homes, from their homes.

Laugh Aid will take place on Saturday, April 4, at 4 p.m. Pacific (PST) / 7 p.m. Eastern (EST). The group aims to bring laughter to the world, and relief and comfort to fellow comedians in need during this difficult time when all live performances are banned.

The event will be treamable on the Laugh Lounge app, Twitch, Twitter, Comedy Central’s YouTube channel, and Facebook will simultaneously stream the curated content, powered by Suitespot. Audio version will be available via Spotify and SiriusXM post live stream.

Broadway Stars To Record ‘What The World Needs Now Is Love’ To Benefit LGBT Community After Orlando

Broadway’s biggest stars are rallying together to support the LGBT community in wake of the Orlando gay nightclub shooting. A slew of theater and Hollywood stars – dubbed Broadway for Orlando – will record a cover of Jackie DeShannon’s 1965 hit “What the World Needs Now Is Love”. People and Playbill will exclusively release the music video of the A-list chorus on Friday; and the track will be available Monday. 100 percent of the proceeds from sales of the song – available to download for $1.99 on BroadwayRecords.com – will go to benefit the LGBT Center of Central Florida.

Sara Bareilles, Roger Bart, Kristen Bell, Wayne Brady, Matthew Broderick, Michael Cerveris, Gloria Estefan, Sutton Foster, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Joel Grey, Sean Hayes, Heather Headley, Megan Hilty, Bill Irwin, Carole King, Jane Krakowski, Nathan Lane, Zachary Levi, Andrea Martin, Audra McDonald, Idina Menzel, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Jessie Mueller, Rosie O’Donnell, Kelli O’Hara, Sarah Jessica Parker, Rosie Perez, Bernadette Peters, Billy Porter, Chita Rivera, Lillias White, Marissa Jaret Winokur, BD Wong and more stars will join together their voices in New York, Los Angeles and Miami on Wednesday to record the benefit single.

SiriusXM Radio host Seth Rudetsky and his husband, producer James Wesley, decided to organize the musical tribute and fundraiser – which was inspired by the 1985 charity track “We Are the World” – on Monday morning and moved quickly.

Stephen King & Owen King To Headline Benefit For Pen Canada

Thirty-nine years, 50 books, and 350 million copies into his literary career, Stephen King will discuss the writing life with his son, first-time novelist Owen King on the opening night of the 34th International Festival of Authors.

In his only scheduled Canadian appearance, Stephen King and his son, Owen King, will headline PEN Canada’s annual benefit to take place on Thursday, October 24th, 2013 at 8:00 p.m. in the Fleck Dance Theatre at Harbourfront Centre, Toronto. Award-winning mystery writer Louise Penny will moderate the discussion.

“We are thrilled that Stephen and Owen King are supporting the work of PEN,” said Charlie Foran, President, PEN Canada. “The evening promises to be a rare glimpse of an intimate father-son conversation about life and art.”

Stephen King will present his new novel, Doctor Sleep, which returns to the characters and the territory of his first best-selling hardcover novel, The Shining, including the now middle-aged Dan Torrance. Owen King will present his debut novel, Double Feature, which explores the creative life and the complicated relationship between a B-movie actor and his filmmaking son.

Tickets to the event are $100 with all proceeds going to PEN Canada.
