Michelle Obama Announces 10-City Tour To Launch Memoir, ‘Becoming’

Michelle Obama is proud and excited about her forthcoming memoir, Becoming — but as the Nov. 13 release date draws nearer, the former first lady admits she’s also “a little frightened” about how “candid and honest and open” she is in the book.

“Over this time that I’ve been out of the White House, I’ve had time to think and reflect for the first time in a long time. I spent some time really thinking about the people, the stories and the experiences that have shaped me and helped me become the person I am today,” Obama, 54, explains.

“I am proud of what I’ve created. I’m proud because it is candid, it’s honest, it is totally and utterly me. So I’m also a little frightened because it is so candid and honest and open,” she adds.

That said, Obama is eager to share her book with the world — and to see how it empowers readers.

“I’m hoping that, because of this book, others feel the power of their own voice and their own story,” Obama says. “Not in the big moments, but in the little things, the small moments, the bumps, the bruises, the highs and the lows — because those are the things that make us uniquely who we are.”

On Wednesday, Obama also announced an upcoming 10-city tour to promote her book:

Tuesday, November 13, Chicago, United Center

Thursday, November 15, Los Angeles, The Forum

Saturday, November 17, Washington DC, Capital One Arena

Saturday, November 24, Boston, TD Garden

Thursday, November 29, Philadelphia, Wells Fargo Center

Saturday, December 1, Brooklyn, Barclays Center

Tuesday, December 11, Detroit, Little Caesars Arena

Thursday, December 13, Denver, Pepsi Center Arena

Friday, December 14, San Jose, SAP Center

Monday, December 17, Dallas, American Airlines Center

Tickets for the event will be sold through Ticketmaster’s “verified fan” system, with 10 percent of the seats in each venue given away free to fans and local community members who might not be able to afford tickets. For the first stop on Nov. 13, in Obama’s hometown of Chicago, this means 1,300 tickets will be given away to community members. Individual ticket prices start as low as $29.50, and signed book bundles and VIP tickets will be available as well.

The events will feature candid conversations between Obama and a selection of to-be-announced moderators — that she says will include some famous friends and family members — about the experiences that have shaped her life, from her childhood on the South Side of Chicago, to her years as an executive balancing the demands of motherhood and work, to her time as the first African-American first lady in U.S. history.

Dates And Cities For Stephen & Owen King’s Sleeping Beauties Book Tour Announced

Dates and cities for Stephen and Owen King’s Sleeping Beauties book tour were announced today.

The novel which will be released on September 26, 2017 is described as follows:

In a future so real and near it might be now, something happens when women go to sleep; they become shrouded in a cocoon-like gauze. If they are awakened, if the gauze wrapping their bodies is disturbed or violated, the women become feral and spectacularly violent; and while they sleep they go to another place… The men of our world are abandoned, left to their increasingly primal devices. One woman, however, the mysterious Evie, is immune to the blessing or curse of the sleeping disease. Is Evie a medical anomaly to be studied? Or is she a demon who must be slain? Set in a small Appalachian town whose primary employer is a women’s prison, Sleeping Beauties is a wildly provocative, gloriously absorbing father/son collaboration between Stephen King and Owen King.

Joe Hill’s N0S4A2 Excerpt, Promotional Video & Book Tour

858797_489602247766434_1969026411_o

NOS4A2 is a spine-tingling novel of supernatural suspense from master of horror Joe Hill, the New York Times bestselling author of Heart-Shaped Box and Horns. The 704 page novel will be released on April 30th.

3716

Today i09.com posted an excerpt of the highly anticipated book on their site and Joe Hill set up the snippet with the following info:

“Where are we? At a little cottage in the woods . . . a long, long way off from anyone who might hear you yelling for help. How did we get here? We came across the Shorter Way Bridge, a bridge that doesn’t really exist in our world, but never mind that. It isn’t important to what you’re about to read.

Here’s what is important: Our hero is Victoria McQueen, a seventeen-year-old kid who has come looking for trouble and is about to find some. Vic believes she has found the hideout of a man who has a car that runs on human souls instead of gasoline. This man-known to her only as the Wraith-is impossibly old and has destroyed an unfathomable number of lives. If Vic doesn’t want to be the next person he grinds up and spits out, she’s going to have to watch her step . . .”

Secondly, here is the brand new video to promote NOS4A2:

Finally, Joe is hitting the road in the U.S. and U.K. to meet and greet fans and chat about the book. You can check out his tour schedule HERE.
