The gallery show kicks off with two events – both are free and open to the public. The opening night reception will be held Friday, August 17 from 7:00 – 10:00 PM, followed by a special TMNT Family Day party on Saturday, August 18, from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM featuring pizza (of course!) and other TMNT-inspired treats, face painting, a photo booth, and other fun activities!

“We’ve worked with Nickelodeon a number of times in the past, and we’ve always loved making TMNT posters, but this is our first time really diving into the depth and breadth of the property,” said Mondo Co-Founder and Creative Director Mitch Putnam. We’re honored that a handful of our favorite artists feel as passionately about pizza eating, skateboarding turtles as we do. See you there!”

We Need To Make This Steamboat Willie LEGO Set A Reality

As classic Disney fans, we’re obsessed with all things Steamboat Willie—which is why we’re loving the latest LEGO Ideas submission.

If you aren’t familiar with LEGO Ideas, it’s a program that lets fans of the building blocks pitch their own design to the company. A model needs to be created, photographed, and submitted—alongside a convincing proposal as to why the set should become an official LEGO product.

Sounds cool, right? What’s even more exciting is that one of the latest proposals is inspired by the beloved Mickey short. The creator of this set argued his (convincing) case:

“Steamboat Willie is the first fully synchronized sound cartoon directed by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks. It was the debut of Mickey Mouse in a cartoon, the first to be distributed and the third to be produced,” he says. “So as an animator and a LEGO fan I’d like to pay my respect to that marvelous production, which…inspired a lot of talented artists.”

Can’t argue with that!

This set, which will include 156 bricks, needs to receive 10,000 votes before it has the chance to be reviewed by the company and approved as a new LEGO set. As of this post, the set has received 6,000 votes. With over 160 more days to go, we’re sure with the help of both Disney and LEGO fans, we can make this set a reality.

Just visit LEGO Ideas and vote for this brilliant creation!

McDonald’s Is Bringing Szechuan Sauce Back For One Day And Here’s How You Can Get It

McDonald’s announced that it will make Szechuan Sauce available at certain restaurants on October 7, 2017 following an outpouring of demand from fans and a certain cartoon…In the season three premiere of Rick and Morty, Rick ranted about the condiment.

“That’s my one-armed man. I’m not driven by avenging my dead family Morty, that was FAKE! I’m driven by finding that, McNugget Sauce,” he says in the episode. “I want that Mulan McNugget Sauce, Morty. That’s my series arc Morty! If it takes nine seasons, I want my McNugget dipping Szechuan Sauce, Morty!”

In July, McDonald’s sent the show creator Justin Roiland a 64-ounce jug of the sauce, which debuted in the summer of 1998 as a promotion for “Mulan.”

But how can you get your hands on Szechuan Sauce?  Read below from McDonalds:

“We’re giving away 1,000 limited-edition, hand numbered, screen-printed posters for all 10 sauces in our legendary lineup—including Szechuan Sauce. That’s right, collectible art, worthy of the pop-culture status fans have given their favorite sauces.

In addition, after nearly 20 years (and perhaps a bit of time travel) we’re even doing the impossible…

On Oct 7, together with the collectible sauce-themed posters, we’re also giving away a one-time only, limited-edition, run of Szechuan Sauce in select restaurants. And when we say limited, we mean really, really limited!

Want a chance to get your hands on some of this sweet (and sour, and savory, and tangy, and spicy, and tart, and…) artwork? Find participating McD’s nearest you HERE.

DuckTales Sneak Peek From D23 Expo

DisneyXD debuted a DuckTales sneak peek at the D23 Expo today. The clip is from “Daytrip of Doom!” where Huey, Dewey, Louie and Webby have an epic dart gun fight that ends up a little more intense than some of them are comfortable with.

The new animated comedy adventure DuckTales will premiere in a one-hour television movie to be presented for 24 consecutive hours, Saturday, August 12 (beginning at midnight EDT/PDT), on DisneyXD. Then, the series will debut with two new episodes Saturday, September 23 (7:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m., 5:00 p.m., 8:00 p.m., 10:30 p.m. EDT/PDT). The story unfolds as Donald Duck reluctantly takes Huey, Dewey and Louie to the home of their reclusive great-uncle Scrooge McDuck. Totally Awesome: The Greatest Cartoons of The Eighties

1

Totally Awesome! The Greatest Cartoons of the Eighties ($45) is the ultimate guide to 80s cartoon nostalgia, featuring the art, toys, and inside story behind icons like He-Man, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, G.I. Joe, and the Thundercats.

It was the best of times; it was the worst of times. But for a generation of fans, it was truly, truly the most outrageous of times. The last decade for both a thriving schedule of network Saturday morning cartoons and a full complement of weekday syndicated programming, the 1980s saw a television animation boom like no era before or since.

The offerings ran the gamut from the blatantly commercial (He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, created after restrictions on children’s broadcasting were altered to allow programming based directly on merchandise) to the surprisingly unmarketable (Jem, canceled despite its popularity due to its failure to sell fashion dolls) to the utterly inexplicable (The New Adventures of Mighty Mouse, helmed by underground animation legend Ralph Bakshi and future Ren and Stimpy creator John Kricfalusi).

Andrew Farago, author of The Looney Tunes Treasury and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Ultimate Visual History, is the curator of San Francisco’s Cartoon Art Museum. As a respected cartoon historian and a child of the eighties himself, he provides an inside look at the history of the most popular cartoons of the eighties, as told by the writers, animators, voice actors, and other creative talents who brought life to some of the most enduring animation of the decade, along with some of the era’s forgotten classics (and not-so-classics).

Farago and a host of animation legends will provide an in-depth look at the most popular cartoons of the 1980s, from the first pitch meeting to the final episode. Featured cartoons will include:

-He-Man and the Masters of the Universe
-G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero
-Dungeons & Dragons
-Transformers
-Jem
-The Real Ghostbusters
-Garfield and Friends
-The New Adventures of Mighty Mouse
-Jim Henson’s Muppet Babies
-Disney’s DuckTales
-Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends
-Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
-Thundercats
-Robotech
-M.A.S.K.
-Voltron: Defender of the Universe
– Superman

Sidebars will explore trends in eighties animation, including adventures in licensing, celebrity-driven programs, second-generation characters, justly forgotten shows, and other totally radical cartoons! The book will be illustrated with the very best art from these iconic cartoons, including rare and never-before-seen sketches, cels, and storyboards.

The 160 page hardcover book will be released on October 18, 2016.
