Hands: A Song For Orlando

Jennifer Lopez, Gwen Stefani, Jason Derulo, Meghan Trainor, Juanes, P!nk, Mary J. Blige, Selena Gomez and Britney Spears are among 24 artists featured on a new recording to raise money for victims of the Pulse nightclub massacre.

The all-star release, “Hands” — a charity single from Interscope Records with support from GLAAD — was conceived by hit songwriter Justin Tranter, co-writer of Justin Bieber’s “Sorry” and hits for Gomez, DNCE, Fall Out Boy and Stefani.

Funds from the song will aid families with medical care, counseling and will also be used for education.

Broadway Stars To Record ‘What The World Needs Now Is Love’ To Benefit LGBT Community After Orlando

Broadway’s biggest stars are rallying together to support the LGBT community in wake of the Orlando gay nightclub shooting. A slew of theater and Hollywood stars – dubbed Broadway for Orlando – will record a cover of Jackie DeShannon’s 1965 hit “What the World Needs Now Is Love”. People and Playbill will exclusively release the music video of the A-list chorus on Friday; and the track will be available Monday. 100 percent of the proceeds from sales of the song – available to download for $1.99 on BroadwayRecords.com – will go to benefit the LGBT Center of Central Florida.

Sara Bareilles, Roger Bart, Kristen Bell, Wayne Brady, Matthew Broderick, Michael Cerveris, Gloria Estefan, Sutton Foster, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Joel Grey, Sean Hayes, Heather Headley, Megan Hilty, Bill Irwin, Carole King, Jane Krakowski, Nathan Lane, Zachary Levi, Andrea Martin, Audra McDonald, Idina Menzel, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Jessie Mueller, Rosie O’Donnell, Kelli O’Hara, Sarah Jessica Parker, Rosie Perez, Bernadette Peters, Billy Porter, Chita Rivera, Lillias White, Marissa Jaret Winokur, BD Wong and more stars will join together their voices in New York, Los Angeles and Miami on Wednesday to record the benefit single.

SiriusXM Radio host Seth Rudetsky and his husband, producer James Wesley, decided to organize the musical tribute and fundraiser – which was inspired by the 1985 charity track “We Are the World” – on Monday morning and moved quickly.

Batkid Begins Trailer

November 15, 2013 was a pretty momentous day for Gotham City as thousands gathered to cheer on five year old “Batkid” Miles who, as part of a Make-A-Wish Foundation event, saw San Francisco transformed into the DC Comics city. Donning a cape and cowl, five-year-old Miles took on the Penguin, saved a damsel in distress and was presented with the key to the city. thanks to an intense outpouring of spontaneous support reverberated around the world. Now, Miles’ story comes to the big screen in the new documentary, Batkid Begins, which has today released its trailer.

Miles’ wish and this role as a little caped crusader resonated so deeply with filmmaker Dana Nachman that she was inspired to explore what happens when a small scale event aiming to fulfill one wish goes unintentionally viral, ultimately revealing surprising truths about what happens when someone inspires our society in a digital age.

Batkid Begins was directed by Nachman, who also produced the documentary with Liza Meak. The film was written by Nachman & Kurt Kuenne (Batkid Begins). Ian Reinhard & John Crane served as executive producers.

Batkid Begins hits theaters June 26, 2015.

Celebrate The 10th Anniversary of The Incredibles & Spend The Day At Pixar Animation Studios On Saturday, May 17, 2014

The Cartoon Art Museum, the only museum in the western United States dedicated to all forms of cartoons and comics, is delighted to host its ninth annual benefit at Pixar Animation Studios on Saturday, May 17, 2014, from 3 to 8 p.m. Beginning with the 1986 release of its iconic short film Luxo Jr. to last year’s box office hit Monsters University, Pixar has charmed the world with its incredible computer animated creations. This year, we welcome you to experience the magic of Pixar up close and personal at the studio’s Emeryville home.

Guests may tour the studio’s main gallery and view pre-production artwork from Monsters University. In addition, Pixar artists will be on hand conducting drawing demonstrations. You may purchase special Pixar apparel and merchandise at the Studio Store as well as bid on original and signed art by Pixar animators and other auction prizes. The event also features a 10th anniversary celebration of the Academy Award-winning feature The Incredibles with several of the film’s creators in the studio’s state-of-the-art theater hosted by Dr. Michael B. Johnson (Pixarian and CAM board member), who will lead a Q&A session with the filmmakers in the Steve Jobs Theater, including:
