Danny Trejo Goes Full Willy Wonka This Friday, Giving Out “Golden Tickets” For Free Tacos

Danny Trejo is celebrating National Taco Day with a very Willy Wonka-esque affair: golden tickets at nearly all of his taco shops.

Proclaiming himself “Danny Wonka” for the occasion, the actor with a line of casual taco cantinas (and hopefully zero Oompa Loompas) won’t be opening the doors to some treacherous taco kingdom, but he will be giving out free tacos every day for the remainder of October to a few lucky customers.

On Friday, October 4 only, dine at any Trejo’s Tacos location—with the exception of LAX and his Hollywood doughnut shop—and you could snag one of these specially printed passes. One winner will be chosen at random from each restaurant (that means Hollywood, Pasadena, La Brea, the Original Farmers Market, Woodland Hills and the USC Village), and if picked, you’ll be able to stop by any Trejo’s for one free taco each day until November 1.

Update: One of the lucky Golden Ticket winners was my buddy, Anthony Ferara from San Pedro. Congrats Anthony, enjoy those tacos!

The Fire Wire Interviews Danny Trejo

Danny Trejo has starred in hundreds of memorable films such as Heat, Con Air, Desperado, Machete, and Spy Kids.

My daughter Elli (cosplaying as Coraline) caught up with the beloved actor at Los Angeles Comic Con and asked him how he got into the Entertainment Industry and what appeals to him as an actor.

Thanks Danny for taking the time to chat with us. Besides being big fans, we love your tacos!
