Funko Announces Special VIP Event On November 7 To Celebrate The Arrival of Their Brand New Hollywood Location

Funko’s pop culture themed vinyl figures, action toys, plush, apparel, housewares and accessories are ubiquitous. I’m sure many readers of this blog might own a bunch of their fun products. Our house is filled with them and our daughter, Eliana was actually a Funko Fanatic of the Week.

We have visited the incredible Funko store in Everett, Washington and were thrilled to hear that a second store location was opening in Hollywood this year. Funko will celebrate the arrival of this brand new location with a special event taking place on Thursday, November 7th, 2019.

Guests attending the VIP preview event will get a first look at the 40,000 square-foot store featuring life-size Funko figures, a toy version of the Batmobile, and a custom POP! factory. Funko Hollywood isn’t your typical brick-and-mortar retail location, but rather an immersive experience with an awe-inducing array of pop-culture themed “worlds” and highly shareable social media moments.

The Funko Hollywood store will officially open its doors to the public on Monday, November 18, 2019. Funko plans to celebrate with a special Grand Opening event. The store will be located at 6201 Hollywood Blvd. in Los Angeles.

Funko Hollywood’s Grand Opening event will kick off at 10:00AM on November 18. There is no cost to enter, but entry will be subject to availability. Those interested in attending will be able to pre-register online. There will also be a standby line onsite for those who are unable to pre-register, but still hope to attend. Additional information will be announced in the coming weeks through Funko’s social channels.

The Hollywood store will be the second brick-and-mortar retail location for Funko. The company’s first and original store, located at its headquarters in Everett, Washington, has already become a destination for pop culture enthusiasts and more. The Hollywood location will be brimming with highly shareable social media moments, including life-size Funko statues and immersive “sets” inspired by some of the biggest pop culture fandoms.

CEO and Director of Funko, Brian Mariotti Talks About His Collection

Brian Mariotti spoke with 425 Business about Batman, Huckleberry Hound, and why he loves the Zoolander Pop! figures so much.

The CEO and Director of Funko has been a toy collector since high school, when he started accumulating PEZ dispensers. Though unknown to Mariotti at the time, with each piece he added to his collection, he was moving one step closer to his destiny of leading Everett-based toy collectibles company Funko, which he purchased from founder Mike Becker in 2005.

Stepping into Mariotti’s fifth-story corner office is something akin to a religious experience for individuals who are toy collectors, pop culture nerds, or, really, anyone under age 12. “Thousands. I have thousands,” Mariotti said, glancing around at the colossal array of pop culture collectibles enshrined in lighted glass cases that line his office. In fact, there isn’t much else in the room, save for a framed photograph of his 19-year-old daughter.

425 Business asked Mariotti to share his favorite pieces and you can read about them HERE.
