Dark Hall Mansion is proud to release Gabz’s fantastical vision of a peaceful yet creatively unbound Jimi Hendrix. With nod to one of Jimi’s most extraordinary songs, ‘Voodoo Child (Slight Return),’ a gorgeous and ferocious showcasing of Jimi’s unequaled talents, Gabz perfectly captured Jimi’s perpetually dual nature, of here and of another place, through two masterful prints that harken to the best of vintage Polish rock poster art of the late ’60s and early ’70s. We explained DHM’s admiration for this period and style to Gabz and he was instantly familiar and drawn to its aesthetic having deep personal experience and background as a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznan, Poland.
Artist Gabz on Jimi and his approach:
“When DHM got in touch with me, I was excited for the opportunity to work on a print for a music artist for a change, especially as great as Jimi, who well deserves his spot in the pantheon of music. DHM had a specific vision for this piece and I couldn’t be happier when they proposed it should be influenced by Polish Poster School, which I’m clearly a fan off. I tried to implement some of the Polish Poster School ideas into my work before, (those who follow my work should be able to spot at least two posters I hope), but it was the first time I have been asked specifically to deliver something in that mood and manner, so to speak. Waldemar Świerzy is amongst my favourite poster artists of all time, so I studied his Jimi Hendrix portraits among his other posters and they inspired me greatly. I wanted something similar in terms of simplification and use of colour. I went with only very little lines, almost no details and very iconic and vibrant look of Jimi. My main idea was to make him the way as if he is becoming the music he’s playing…”
Gabz’s vision for his Jimi print, a bold evocative rock portrait with rich lines, vibrant colors and delicate line work, at once evocative of classic Polish poster art and the best of black light posters that so dominated the walls and bedrooms of countless rock fans everywhere. Gabz’s Standard edition captures Jimi’s ethereal nature, seemingly endless creative waves emanate from his mind, hearing sounds only he could hear, guitar strap hinting at his ready axe. Gabz’s Variant an electrified beauty, distills Jimi to his essence and underscores Gabz’s striking line work, a simple strike of Jimi’s signature completing a piece that begs for black light showcasing.
Grey Matter Art, under license from Marvel Studios is proud to present a New Officially Licensed, Limited Edition Screen Print for the Classic Super-Hero Action Film, “Iron Man.” This is the second poster Grey Matter Art has produced for “Iron Man” and has chosen to work with the very talented artist, Grzegorz Domaradzki (Gabz). There are 3 separate editions for this poster, a Regular & Variant Edition, as well as a Gold Foil Edition. The subtle use of gold foil is used very selectively and really lends itself well to this poster. Below are details regarding the poster and release date.
Here is what the artist had to say about the project:
“When growing up I was a huge comic book fan, reading everything comics related I could get my hands on (which, in Eastern Europe wasn’t as easy as one might think). I used to copy my favourite artists and draw my own stories. Back in the day working for comic giant such as Marvel seemed like an impossible dream, so as soon as I heard the GMA guys are getting the license for Marvel films, I had a number of titles I wanted to tackle. I was thrilled and excited to work on Jon Favreau’s: Iron Man, by far my favorite and best Marvel film (next to The Guardians of the Galaxy). I enjoy it greatly every time I see it. I wanted the composition to reflect the conflict between good and evil by dividing the canvas into two parts. Since I was always drawn towards villains in those type of movies I decided to build the composition around Obadiah’s sinister headshot (one cannot really dislike The Dude). It wouldn’t be a complete Iron Man poster without Tony Stark, Pepper Potts and Iron Man’s classic pose. I hope the fans of the movie will appreciate it. I know for sure I had a blast doing it and I’m very happy with cleverly used foil this time around.”
This poster will be released on Wednesday, September 2nd on the Grey Matter Art website shop page at a random time between 1:00-2:00 PM (EST) at www.greymatterart.com

Grey Matter Art and StudioCanal present a New Limited Edition, Screen Print by artist, Grzegorz Domaradzki (Gabz) for the iconic film “Escape From New York”. This will be the first official poster for the John Carpenter classic released in 1981, featuring Kurt Russell as hero “Snake” Plissken.
Also, this will be Grey Matter Art’s second offering and first collaboration with Gabz, who said this about the project, “When Mike Gregory, co-founder of Grey Matter Art offered me an opportunity to work on John Carpenter’s “Escape from New York,” I didn’t hesitate much. My main intention was to deliver something a little bit different from what I’ve been known for until now… something less character based, more focused on the movie’s atmosphere, and true to the original poster artwork. Being a fan of the original and iconic poster, my print also has post-apocalyptic streets of New York City, gang members, and the majestic Statue of Liberty (or what was left from it) dominating the skyline. Except Snake Plissken, in my version is all by himself: tired, hurt, on the run, and fighting against all odds. Perceptive viewers should also notice Snake’s plane crossing the red walls of the New York City prison, and the bottom grid which is intended to be a tribute to visual effects used in the movie”.
Creative Director Mike Gregory also had this to add “When we had the chance to obtain the rights to “Escape from New York,” I was very excited and honored to have a shot at it. This movie, in my eyes is a true 80’s classic, which still holds up to this day. Snake is such an iconic character, and I wanted to have this movie presented in a way that does it justice. Being this is the first authorized art poster based on the film, there was only one artist in my eyes that I wanted to take on this project, and that was Grzegorz Domaradzki (Gabz). Though most collectors are probably used to his multiple character compositions, I think he did a great job that separates this from his other work, focusing mainly on Snake, when he is injured, and at his lowest. Gabz depicted this perfectly, and we are very proud to have such a great poster to release to the public. People have been waiting for this movie to have an official poster for it, and I think this is the one.”
Posters will go on sale Wednesday, April 30th at a random time between 1:00-2:00 PM. EST on their website’s shop page. Wait for the tweet to be notified on when this poster will drop.
