What Stephen King Book Should You Read Next? Just Ask Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant

Beginning today, Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant users in the U.S.and Canada will be able to download a free “Stephen King Library” app onto their smart speaker platforms, Simon & Schuster has announced. The library will recommend King books tailored to users’ reading tastes from a selection of 56 books by King.

Simon & Schuster is billing the “Stephen King Library” as perhaps “the first voice-activated book recommendation tool dedicated to an author’s body of work from a major publisher.” The library was jointly produced by King’s longtime publisher Scribner, S&S, and Simon & Schuster Audio, and was developed by Skilled Creative.

“Simon & Schuster intends to be at the forefront of utilizing voice interaction technology to connect books and authors to readers and audiobook listeners,” S&S executive v-p and chief marketing officer Liz Perl said in a statement. “Using A.I. through Stephen King Library is a fun and innovative experience for exploring this master storyteller’s work.”

The program, S&S said, will ask users a series of situational questions—voiced by audiobook narrator Jeremy Bobb—and suggest a reading list informed by their responses. In-app purchases are not yet available, but consumers can buy the books from their platform’s retail store shopping carts.

Sonos Beam

Sonos Beam is a smart compact soundbar that packs a mean punch—Both in terms of sound, as well as with features like voice control, Airplay 2, Trueplay sound-tuning, speech enhancement (for crystal clear dialogue) and night mode (to even out loud and quiet sounds so you don’t wake the baby), to name a few. And like every other Sonos product, Beam will improve over time through software updates.

Beam will ship with Amazon Alexa built in—And adding a FireTV device will make that experience even more powerful. With the arrival of Airplay 2, Beam will unlock the ability to control Apple Music on Sonos through Siri. Google Assistant will be added to the Sonos system in the near future as well. And if you’re watching or listening with Beam, don’t worry about cranking the volume. Beam’s five-microphone array provides multi-channel echo cancellation that will allow your virtual assistant to hear every command.

Of course, you don’t have to control Sonos with your voice. You can still tap into all that content using the Sonos app, through direct control on apps like Spotify, Tidal, Pandora, and Audible, and through Sonos-supported hardware controllers. With Beam connected to your TV’s HDMI-Arc port, you can even keep using your TV’s original remote to find content to watch. With Sonos, as always, the choice is yours.

Whether it’s set up in the living room, bedroom, or another rom with a TV in it, Beam makes the perfect addition to your Sonos system. You’ll be impressed by the sound when Beam stands alone and delighted when you add more devices such as a pair of Sonos Ones and a Sub to make it 5.1 surround sound system.

Sonos Beam will be available globally on July 17 for $399. You can pre-order it HERE now.

Amazon Fire TV Cube

Amazon has announced the Fire TV Cube, a hands-free 4K Ultra HD streaming media player with Alexa, allowing you to control your TV from across the room. Power your TV on and off, change the volume, switch to different inputs, and change the cable channel—all with just your voice. Even with the TV off, simply say “Alexa, play Billions on Showtime” and Fire TV Cube powers on your TV and starts playback right where you left off. Plus, because the Alexa service is always getting smarter, Fire TV Cube is going to get even better over time.

Amazon Fire TV Cube is available for pre-order for $119.99 and ships with an IR extender cable and Ethernet adapter beginning on June 21.
