Harry Potter Wizards Unite, The New Game From The Creators of Pokémon Go, Is Coming To Android & iPhone On June 21, 2019

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, a new mobile augmented reality game from the creators of Pokémon Go, is coming to Android and iOS devices on Friday June 21.

Niantic announced that it was partnering with WB Games to work on Harry Potter: Wizards Unite in November 2017. The game is Niantic’s follow-up to Pokémon Go, which became a global phenomenon when it launched back in July 2016.

In Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, players will be able to explore the real world, searching for signs of magic and encountering iconic Harry Potter characters along the way, much like Pokémon Go. Players will take on the role of a new wizard recruit working with the Statute of Secrecy Task Force — the group responsible for solving the mystery of the Calamity, a major event that scattered magical artifacts and creatures all over the world.

You can find the game on June 21 in the Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store.

Star Wars Fans Invited To “Find the Force” As Unprecedented Augmented Reality Event Sweeps The Globe for Force Friday II

Following the global phenomenon of Force Friday in 2015, Disney and Lucasfilm today announced Find the Force, a global augmented reality (AR) event rolling out on Force Friday II (September 1) to commemorate the worldwide launch of new products inspired by Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

The pop-up AR treasure hunt aims to unite fans around the world in the battle against the dark side in a unique three-day event at over 20,000 retail locations across 30 countries. As fans turn up to take home new The Last Jedi products, they will have the opportunity to activate a unique augmented reality experience featuring Star Wars characters, including fan-favorites and new surprise additions from the film.

From September 1-3, retailers around the world will invite fans to Find the Force by taking part in an AR treasure hunt. Here’s how it works: first, download the Star Wars App, which is your one-stop-shop for all things Star Wars (those who already have the app will need to download the latest version). Then, visit any one of 20,000 participating retail locations to find a graphic that contains the Find the Force logo. When you scan the graphic using the Star Wars App, you’ll reveal a character, who through augmented reality, will appear in the room with you. You can then take photos, record videos, and share the experience on social media. Come back each day to reveal new characters (15 in total across the program’s three-day run). Click here for more information: www.starwars.com/findtheforce.

Fans can download the latest version of the Star Wars App (v. 2.3 or higher) beginning Aug. 24 for an early look at the new Porg characters in AR before the AR treasure hunt goes live at retail.

By sharing photos or videos featuring the in-store AR characters on Twitter or Instagram using #FindtheForce and #Sweepstakes throughout Force Friday II weekend, fans in select global markets can participate in a sweepstakes for the chance to win the ultimate fan experience: tickets to the Star Wars: The Last Jedi premiere in December.

More information about Find the Force and a how-to video is available at www.starwars.com/findtheforce.

Project Raygun & Mondo Present The Thing: Infection At Outpost 31 Game

outpost_31_exterior_1024x1024

Mondo just announced a new partnership with Project Raygun, USAopoly’s brand new initiative focused on combining iconic properties with visionary art and design.

“The synergy between Mondo and Project Raygun was immediate, both driven by zeal and a deep-rooted appreciation of timeless and relevant pop culture,” explains VP of Project Raygun, Mike Gonzales.

“When Project Raygun started talking about tapping into fan’s passion and nostalgia for iconic properties and bringing them to life, it was clear that Mondo was the perfect fit to help us deliver the ultimate experience to the gaming and collector community,” continued John Davis, USAopoly and Project Raygun’s President and CEO.

Our first collaboration will center around John Carpenter’s 1982 sci-fi horror thriller, The Thing. In the new signature board game, titled Infection At Outpost 31, the tension and mystery of The Thing is recreated as players race to discover who among them are infected in the hidden identity game play engine. We recruited one of our favorite artists and package designers, Justin Erickson of Phantom City Creative, to handle art duties.

“When we set out to create the first licensed Mondo board game the biggest question was; what film property would we go after? So many of the films we celebrate at Mondo would be an absolute blast in game form,” explained Jay Shaw, Mondo Brand Director. “As soon as John Carpenter’s suspense masterpiece, The Thing was mentioned it very quickly became our top choice,” Shaw noted.

“The next step was to figure out how to actually make a game. We all love playing them, but none of us had designed one before. Game mechanics are an incredibly complicated art form and we didn’t want to enter this space unless we were going to get it right. Luckily our dear friends at Project Raygun were completely up to the challenge. They’ve built an incredibly challenging fast paced game of paranoia that transports players directly into the film,” Shaw continued.

USAopoly, Inc. and Project Raygun will be at Toy Fair in New York City, February 18-21. The division’s inaugural product line is scheduled for release starting Fall 2017.

Doctor Who Interactive Google Doodle Celebrates 50th Anniversary

2211327Google

In honor of the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who, Google has created an interactive Google Doodle based on the series — a Whodle! — and launched it today on their home pages around the world.

The doodle serves as an interactive game where you play as each of the eleven doctors in a race against time against a Dalek. As the Doctor, you need to collect all the letters of “Google” and bring them back to the TARDIS, while the Dalek is after you. But don’t worry, if you die, you’ll just regenerate to the next incarnation of the Doctor, though before that you’ll have a Dalek on you shouting its signature phrase, “Exterminate!”. The interactive game includes authentic sound effects from Doctor Who, provided to the Google Doodle creators by the BBC.

As part of the 50th anniversary, The Day of the Doctor, which stars Matt Smith and Jenna Coleman and will see guest appearances by David Tennant, Billie Piper, John Hurt, and many more, airs on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 7:50pm GMT on BBC One in the UK and at 2:50pm EST on BBC America in the U.S.

An Adventure In Space And Time will air on BBC America on Friday, November 22 at 9PM ET/PT, with Doctor Who: The Doctors Revisited – The Eleventh Doctor, a special featuring current doctor Matt Smith, airing on November 24, 2013 at 8pm ET/PT on BBC America, which will be doing a marathon that day of Smith’s top 11 episodes as voted by the fans.
