Watch Huey Lewis Interviewed By Jimmy Kimmel At The Grammy Museum

The GRAMMY Museum was thrilled to welcome iconic GRAMMY-winner Huey Lewis for an intimate conversation on February 12 discussing his career and new album, Weather. The conversation was moderated by late-night talk show host, Jimmy Kimmel and you can watch it below.

Huey Lewis & The News have sold more than 30 million records and netted a slew of Top Ten singles over the years with hits like “The Heart of Rock & Roll,” “I Want A New Drug,” and the Academy Award-nominated “Power of Love.”

It is against considerable odds that the group is set to release Weather, their first new album of original material in nearly two decades and, quite possibly, their last. Lewis’ 2018 Ménière’s disease diagnosis unexpectedly cut their recording sessions short and has since prohibited Lewis’ ability to perform. Unaware of the ticking clock, Lewis and his bandmates had operated slowly and deliberately while writing and recording the album in the studio. The result is a record that captures a legendary group at the peak of their powers, performing with the kind of uninhibited heart and soul that launched them to international superstardom in the 1980s and has sustained them as one of popular music’s most enduring and beloved acts ever since.

Once Upon A Time In Hollywood: An Evening With Quentin Tarantino & Friends At The GRAMMY Museum On October 2, 2017

The GRAMMY Museum will present a special evening with Quentin Tarantino on October 2, 2019. The event will celebrate the recent music-laden film, Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood and its soundtrack.

The program will begin with a panel discussion including Quentin Tarantino, Mark Lindsay (co-founder and original lead singer of Paul Revere & the Raiders) whose songs are featured on the soundtrack, along with music writer and critic David Wild, and GRAMMY Museum moderator Scott Goldman. Following the discussion, Mark Lindsay will perform a few of his songs from the soundtrack, featuring a choral ensemble from Tesoro High School.

Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood visits 1969 Los Angeles, where everything is changing, as TV star Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt) make their way around an industry they hardly recognize anymore. The ninth film from the writer-director, which features a large ensemble cast and multiple storylines in a tribute to the final moments of Hollywood’s golden age, debuted in theatres July 26 and went on to be the only original film to cross $100 million at the summer domestic box office.

The soundtrack, personally curated by Tarantino himself, is a love letter to the music of 1960s-era Hollywood. The Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood soundtrack features over 20 standout tracks from artists such as Paul Revere & The Raiders, Deep Purple, and Neil Diamond, as well as vintage radio advertisements, creating a true time capsule of a golden era of filmmaking.

Keeping with Tarantino’s status as a true collector and lover of vinyl, attendees will also have the opportunity to purchase super deluxe edition vinyl copies of the soundtrack and additional merchandise at the GRAMMY Museum during the program.

Tickets will cost $50 and they will go on sale Saturday, September 21, 2019.

The Grammy Museum Announces The Get Animated Invasion Celebrating Warner Bros. Animated Characters

The Grammy Museum has teamed up with Warner Bros. to present The Get Animated Invasion, an interactive pop-up exhibit that will take over the GRAMMY Museum’s second floor from August 18-September 9, 2018.

Warner Bros. animated characters have a long history of invading pop culture through music, from popularizing classical compositions to creating mainstream hits that stand the test of time. Come to the Grammy Museum for an interactive journey of reimagined musical moments within Warner Bros.’ most beloved animated entertainment. The exhibit starts by celebrating Looney Tunes’ unique way of blending comedy with a modern twist on classical music, through unforgettable scenes where Bugs Bunny showcases his musical skills. Next, visitors can rock out in Judy Jetson’s futuristic bedroom, which moonlights as the ultimate Jet Screamer fandom shrine. Other features include Scooby-Doo’s psychedelic stage, the 2-D-meets-3-D phenomena that is Space Jam, and so much more!

Exhibit Features:

-Looney Tunes will feature interpretations of three classical music-driven episodes: “What’s Opera Doc?,” “Rabbit of Seville,” and “Long-Haired Hare.

-Scooby-Doo is inspired by the sounds of the ’60s and ’70s and will include a psychedelic stage experience in collaboration with artist Sam Taylor to celebrate the music heard on the series.

-Space Jam will pay homage to ’90s R&B inspired by its iconic soundtrack as well as the ultimate Monstars vs. Tunesquad showdown from the film. Artist Joshua Vides reinterprets the 2-D world with a galactic half-court space in his signature style.

-Smallfoot will immerse visitors in a winter escape inspired by the September 28th feature release, starring Channing Tatum, James Corden, Zendaya, Common, Lebron James, Danny Devito, Gina Rodriguez, Yara Shahidi, Ely Henry and Jimmy Tatro; and featuring new music written by Wayne Kirkpatrick and Karey Kirkpatrick and performed by Tatum, Common and Zendaya, along with a new song from Niall Horan. Fine artist Crystal Wagner brings her signature larger-than-life structure work into the space to create a snowy dome-like environment reflecting the story’s beautiful mountain setting.

-Animaniacs will highlight notable tongue-twisting and wacky songs from the show through an interactive karaoke booth designed by artist duo Confetti System.

-Tom and Jerry is known for its classical compositions. To bring a modern and interactive element to the genre, guests will have the opportunity to dive into the episodes and celebrate the musical moments with a private experience.

-The Flintstones will showcase a reinterpreted stone age-inspired instrument from the series and guests will be able to physically play the instrument as well.

-The Jetsons brings the experience into Judy Jetson’s bedroom and her love of music and teenage heartthrob jet screamer. The mid-century meets futuristic aesthetic is curated by creator Amelia Muqbel to help bring the ultimate fan-girl world to life.

-Get Animated records will celebrate all the musical elements across our highlighted animations with our own take of a get animated record shop with reimagined vinyl artwork inspired by our characters.

Celebrate the music that generations have come to know and love, and experience the music of your favorite childhood cartoons like never before at the Grammy Museum!
