Watch The First Joker Teaser Trailer

Warner Bros. Pictures has released the first Joker teaser trailer!

The film also stars Zazie Beetz (Deadpool 2), Bill Camp (Red Sparrow, Molly’s Game), Frances Conroy (American Horror Story, Castle Rock), Brett Cullen (42, Narcos), Glenn Fleshler (Billions, Barry), Douglas Hodge (Red Sparrow, Penny Dreadful), Marc Maron (Maron, GLOW), Josh Pais (Motherless Brooklyn, Going in Style), and Shea Whigham (First Man, Kong: Skull Island).

Joker centers around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen. Phillips’ exploration of Arthur Fleck (Phoenix), a man disregarded by society, is not only a gritty character study but also a broader cautionary tale.

Todd Phillips (The Hangover trilogy) directs from a screenplay he co-wrote with writer Scott Silver (The Fighter), based on characters from DC. The film is being produced by Phillips and Bradley Cooper under their Joint Effort banner, and Emma Tillinger Koskoff. It is executive produced by Richard Baratta, Joseph Garner, and Bruce Berman.

Behind the scenes, Phillips is joined by director of photography Lawrence Sher (Godzilla: King of the Monsters, The Hangover trilogy), production designer Mark Friedberg (Selma, The Amazing Spider-Man 2), editor Jeff Groth (War Dogs, The Hangover Part III), and Oscar-winning costume designer Mark Bridges (Phantom Thread, The Artist).

Joker is set for release on October 4 .

Principal photography has begun on Warner Bros. Pictures’ Joker, starring Oscar nominee Joaquin Phoenix in the title role, alongside Oscar winner Robert De Niro, and directed, produced and co-written by Oscar nominee Todd Phillips.

DC Collectibles Reveal Gerard Way’s Batman & Joker Statues

Ahead of this weekend’s New York Toy Fair, DC Collectibles has unveiled a sneak peek of its 2018 lineup, which includes two new entries in its Batman: Black and White line, based on artwork by the curator of Young Animal, Gerard Way.

The statues of Batman and Joker are based on illustrations revealed by Way on Twitter in 2013. The designs are titled “Kingdom of the Mad,” a Batman story that was approved by DC Entertainment for release through Vertigo but unfortunately never saw the light of day.

Beyond the Dark Knight and The Joker, Way also released designs for Robin, Two-Face, The Penguin, The Riddler and Mr. Freeze, hinting at a massive and story. Now, however, at least part of Way’s vision will live on in the form of these statues.

Perhaps, if the demand for the statues proves strong, DC could finally be persuaded to make the miniseries a reality.

Priced at $80 each, the two statues will be released in October 2018.

The Joker Origin Movie In The Works At Warner Bros. & DC

Warner Bros. Pictures and DC are in the early stages of developing at Joker origin movie, according to Deadline. The site says that The Hangover‘s Todd Phillips will co-write the script with 8 Mile‘s Scott Silver. Phillips will direct the movie, to be produced by Martin Scorsese and Phillips.

The Joker origin movie will be the first film under a new banner that Warner Bros. has yet to name, but which will expand the canon of DC Comics properties and create unique storylines with different actors playing the characters.

The Joker has previously been played by Jack Nicholson in Batman, by Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight, and by Jared Leto in Suicide Squad. The site adds that Leto will reprise the character in the Suicide Squad sequel and the Harley Quinn spinoff, Gotham City Sirens. This new film, however, will feature a different actor, possibly younger.

The intention is to make a gritty and grounded hard-boiled crime film set in early-’80s Gotham City that isn’t meant to feel like a DC movie as much as one of Scorsese’s films from that era, like Taxi Driver, Raging Bull or The King Of Comedy.

While it’s unknown when this Joker origin movie would be released, Phillips and Silver are already writing the script.

Kotobukiya Announces DC Comics The Joker Killing Joke 2nd Edition ARTFX Statue

1

Kotobukiya has posted photos and details for an updated version of an older statue. They have refined their DC Comics The Joker – Killing Joke for an all new Second Edition ARTFX Statue. The statue is based off the iconic cover by Brian Bolland. It will include a Red Hood themed statue base as well. Here are more details from Koto:

A Kotobukiya Japanese import! Kotobukiya returns to the DC Universe ARTFX Statue series with a new edition of a previously released classic. The Clown Prince of Crime is back in an updated (and streamlined) new version with The Joker -Killing Joke- 2nd Edition! A 1988 graphic novel by Alan Moore and drawn by Brian Bolland, The Killing Joke is a story about Joker and how he came to be. Other than an interesting origin story for him, the book also features one of the most famous scenes in the history of comics: Joker shooting Barbara Gordon (which would in turn lead to her becoming the hero Oracle). Almost as famous as its contents is Killing Joke’s iconic cover image, and this 2nd Edition statue replicates it with new features and a simplified presentation.

Featuring a portrait inspired by the graphic novel cover art coupled with an original pose by Kotobukiya, this statue brings the maniacal clown to life that’s sure to please any DC Comics reader. In this new edition Joker stands on the helmet and cape of the original Red Hood, smiling his huge toothy grin as he snaps a photo on his old school film camera. The sadistic villain’s costume is incredibly detailed, showing off every seam, cuff, button, crease, and more on his purple three piece suit and trench coat. His outfit is even topped off by authentic studded spats, fedora, iconic white gloves, and lapel-pinned flower. The Joker’s elongated white painted face leaps right off of the graphic novel cover with its deep laugh lines, left eye squeezed shut, and unruly green hair peeking out from under his hat. This 2nd Edition does not include the original light-up gimmick, but Joker fans will love the subtle nod to one the villain’s alter ego’s literally at his feet!

The Joker -Killing Joke- 2nd Edition stands 12 inches tall (1/6th scale) on his special updated display base featuring the Red Hood costume. The Joker is an incredible statue capturing one of the most famous graphic novels of all time, and he’ll look great on display or alongside other DC Comics-inspired statues from Kotobukiya like the Batman Black Costume version.

Look for the statue to be released in June. You can pre-order it HERE for $99.99.
