KFC Cheetos Sandwich

Kentucky Fried Chicken and the fan-favorite Cheetos brand announced the nationwide launch of the Cheetos Sandwich with assistance from its newest Colonel, the most mischievous cat around: Chester Cheetah.

Chester is the first brand icon and spokescheetah to portray KFC’s famous founder, Colonel Harland Sanders. He will take the reins on KFC’s social channels and appear on TV screens in ad spots (beginning June 30) to promote the iconic co-branded partnership and remind Cheetos and KFC lovers everywhere that the new Cheetos Sandwich is only available at KFC through the end of July.

The Cheetos Sandwich – a juicy, hand-breaded Extra Crispy chicken filet drizzled with a special Cheetos sauce, layered over Cheetos and mayo, placed on a toasted bun – will satisfy all your crunchy, cheesy wishes.

To prepare for the role, Chester donned his best white Colonel suit, posed in a digital billboard spot and even took over a New York City KFC (242 E. 14th Street), hosting an Instagrammable and exclusive pop-up event on June 27. The party featured one-of-a-kind KFC and Cheetos mashup menu items available only at the event and an exclusive first taste of the new Cheetos Sandwich for consumers.

Chester took it upon himself to “Cheetos-fy” the entire restaurant, including a 28 feet by 12 feet long wall mural painted outside the restaurant by artist, Vizie, in what he calls “an explosion of flavor.” The abstract and colorful mural is a symbolic representation to show the merging of two renowned brands, KFC and Cheetos, and is available for fans to snap a selfie in front of through the end of July.

As part of the launch, KFC will also introduce the Cheetos Lovers Box meal, which includes the Cheetos Sandwich, Popcorn Nuggets drizzled in Cheetos sauce, mac and cheese, wedges and a medium drink (prices and participation may vary).

KFC Hires RoboCop to Protect Their Secret Recipe

Kentucky Fried Chicken revealed today its newest Colonel Sanders – Colonel RoboCop – and disclosed its latest and most enhanced security measure taken to date to protect and preserve its founder’s secret blend of 11 herbs and spices used to make its world famous Original Recipe chicken. Colonel RoboCop isn’t just tasked with being the latest face of KFC’s famous fried chicken; he was also commissioned to successfully transport an encrypted copy of the secret recipe to one of the most secure vaults in the world –  the Bahnhof maximum security nuclear bunker located in Stockholm, Sweden.

Invented by KFC Founder Colonel Harland Sanders, and perfected in 1940 after years of experimentation, the finger lickin’ good secret recipe, which blends the iconic 11 herbs and spices, is the crown jewel upon which the company was born, and is still enjoyed today in more than 22,000 restaurants across 135+ countries around the world. While the original secret recipe is still housed at the KFC headquarters, a second, triple-encrypted digital copy was created, transported and is now stored at Bahnhof’s data center, a former nuclear bunker named Pionen, to ensure the delicious national treasure lives on forever, should anything ever happen to the original. Between Colonel RoboCop and Bahnhof, KFC has left no stone unturned in its efforts to safeguard the Colonel’s legacy.

KFC’s secret recipe is arguably the world’s best kept trade secret. Since 1970, the original secret recipe of 11 herbs and spices has been carefully guarded at KFC headquarters in a state-of-the-art vault surrounded by motion detectors, cameras and more. In fact, the recipe is so highly guarded, even KFC’s president and head chef do not know the exact recipe. Most dramatically, KFC employs two different suppliers, each producing approximately half of the herbs and spices blend, which are then blended together by a third supplier – making it impossible for any one supplier to produce the exact mix of 11 herbs and spices.

In addition to his role transporting and protecting the secret recipe, starting February 24 Colonel RoboCop will appear in a series of ads promoting KFC’s four varieties of its famous $20 Fill Up and its $5 Fill Up offers featuring all white meat chicken.

The KFC Fire Log Smells Like Fried Chicken

For more than a million years, mankind has been attempting to improve upon the simple fire. We’ve tried burning different things like sticks or leaves or various incriminating documents. We’ve tried making fires last longer. We’ve even figured out how to turn them into different colors. All of that experimentation, all of that innovation, has culminated in this event, the KFC 11 Herbs & Spices Firelog, from Enviro-Log.

Imbued with the unmistakable, mouth-watering aroma of Colonel Sanders’ secret recipe, the KFC 11 Herbs & Spices Firelog finally puts to rest the age-old dilemma, “How can I make this fire a hundred bajillion times better?”

– Each Firelog can burn up to 2.5-3 hours.
– Can be stored and no shelf life. Store in a safe, dry area away from pets.
– May result in a craving for fried chicken. We know the fire log smells great, but please do not attempt to eat it.
– May attract bears or neighbors who are hungry.
– Please don’t put face directly into fire in attempt to smell fried chicken.

KFC says it wants to help its customers enjoy the hot summer with fried chicken and a limited-edition floatie depicting Colonel Sanders himself.

According to a news release from the fast food giant, KFC will hold a sweepstakes in which customers can earn a chance to win a pool float “in the likeness of Colonel Sanders and in the shape of a ridable raft.” The floatie features “special holders for a bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken and your favorite beverage.”

“We want this to be the best summer ever, so it wasn’t enough for us to bring back George Hamilton as the Extra Crispy Colonel and debut a superior, craveable fried chicken sandwich that stands above the rest,” said Andrea Zahumensky, KFC U.S. CMO in a statement.

He added that the over-the-top pool float trend has been taking over social media, and KFC officials felt that a KFC Colonel floatie sweepstakes would “fit perfectly with our notorious Extra Crispy lifestyle campaign.”

“Summer is about making fun memories, and what better way to do that than drifting on the water in the arms of the one-and-only Colonel Sanders?” Zahumensky added.

To enter the sweepstakes CLICK HERE.

Entries will be accepted through June 22 to win one of the limited-edition free floaties. The floaties will not be sold or made available outside of this giveaway. Winners will be selected on June 23. For a full list of rules, visit the link above.

KFC is plotting to launch a chicken sandwich into space.

The Zinger, a spicy, crispy breaded-chicken sandwich that debuts in the U.S. on April 24 is already one of the top-selling sandwiches in KFC’s international markets.

To promote the Zinger, actor Rob Lowe signed on to be the brand’s latest celebrity colonel, following in the footsteps of Billy Zane, Vincent Kartheiser, Rob Riggle and George Hamilton. The revolving door of celebrity colonels has paid off for KFC, helping boost sales and increase interest in the brand among consumers under 35.

In the ad, by Wieden + Kennedy Portland, Lowe as the colonel is dressed in astronaut gear, delivering a rousing if bumbling address to the American public about KFC’s space mission, as people around the country look on in wonder and, ultimately, cheer him on.
