DC Collectibles Limited Jiro Kuwata Batman Statue

Jiro Kuwata is a superhero legend in Japan. He’s the artist behind the country’s first costumed superhero 8 Man created in the 1960s. 8 Man remained a cultural touchstone in Japan, but after Kawata’s run he moved on to another major work: DC Comic’s Batman. Known as Bat-Manga, Kuwata’s crisp artwork and stories of the caped crusader remained limited to Japan for decades and didn’t appear stateside until 2008.

Now you can purchase a “Batman: Black & White” statue based on Kuwata’s character design, complete with stylized cape, manga-style shading, and Kuwata’s take on the Caped Crusader’s arsenal of gadgets. No Batman collection would be complete without it!

 

Only 5,000 individually numbered 1/10-scale statues have been produced. Available now online and at various comic book shops.

Batman: The Jiro Kuwata Batmanga Book Volume 1

In the 1960s, at the height of the Batman TV series’ popularity, a shonen manga magazine in Japan serialized fifty-three chapters of original comics starring The Dark Knight, all written and illustrated by Managaka Jiro Kuwata. Now, DC Entertainment is proud to publish the complete Batman Manga adventures in English for the first time in three painstakingly restored volumes. The adventure begins when the Dynamic Duo faces the insidious threat of Lord Death Man!

Batman: The Jiro Kuwata Batmanga Book Volume 1 will be released on December 3, 2014. The 352 page trade paperback will retail for $14.95.
