Phantom City Creative Joins Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The Art of Level 7

Marvel Television is proud to announce acclaimed artist studio Phantom City Creative as the final recruit for Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: The Art of Level 7, closing out this exclusive art series that united top artists from around the world, the artwork celebrates the final six episodes of the series’ inaugural season(airing Tuesdays, 8|7c on the ABC Television Network).

Dark secrets are revealed as Coulson and his team put everything on the line to stop Garrett and the forces of Hydra during the explosive season finale of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. But when the dust settles, Coulson will find that no one’s leaving this battle unscathed.  And just when all hope seems lost, they’re joined by the one man who may be able to turn the tide – Nick Fury.

“We’re extremely proud of everything we’ve accomplished in this first season of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” said Jeph Loeb, Head of Marvel TV. “To commemorate this historic endeavor, we reached out to our friends at Phantom City Creative for their help in creating an iconic piece capturing the journey these characters have gone through since day one – no one is the same as when they started.”

“Beginning of The End,” airs Tuesday, May 13 at 8/7c on the ABC network, concluding the powerful first season of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

“Combining my love of Marvel and all things Joss Whedon, this was a real treat of a project to work on. I couldn’t be happier that Marvel asked me to participate,” said Phantom City Creative’s Justin Erickson. “I grew up reading Marvel comics and enjoy what Marvel has been doing with their Cinematic Universe. With my previous Marvel work on Marvel’s The Avengers and Iron Man 3, I was thrilled to once again play in that world creatively. With this poster, I felt it was unique as it touched upon the events of the finale and spoke to the series as a whole. The season ends in a place where S.H.I.E.L.D. has been shattered from within by Hydra, and the team itself by Ward’s betrayal. Even after all that the team went through, they’re still standing together. The keen eyed viewer will notice that Ward is the only team member not on the S.H.I.E.L.D. logo and touching the Hydra logo.”

Due to popular demand, the first three posters in this exclusive art series have sold out. Phantom City Creative’s “Beginning of The End” will be available at http://www.marvelstore.com/ArtOfLevel7 beginning Friday, May 9th at 1:00am PST. These individually numbered prints are strictly limited to 100 copies and once they’re sold out – they won’t be available again from Marvel.

Stephanie Hans Joins Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The Art of Level 7: The Return of Deathlok Brought To Life By Fan-Favorite Artist

Marvel Television is proud to announce acclaimed artist Stephanie Hans (Journey Into Mystery, Young Avengers) as the newest recruit for Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: The Art of Level 7, a new initiative uniting top artists from around the world to celebrate the final six episodes of the series’ inaugural season(airing Tuesdays, 8|7c on the ABC Television Network).

Maria Hill (guest-star Cobie Smulders) makes her return to Marvels Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as Coulson finds his team divided and at their most vulnerable, but is she a friend…or foe? Meanwhile, Coulson must contend with the forces of Col. Glenn Talbot (guest-star Adrian Pasdar) and the United States military, as Ward and Skye work together on a covert mission to decrypt a hard drive containing S.H.I.E.L.D.’s biggest secrets. But just when Skye didn’t think things could get worse…Deathlok makes his (literally) heart-stopping return!

“Nothing Personal”, the twentieth episode of the series, premieres on Tuesday, April 29th, at 8|7c on the ABC network followed by brand new episodes each week until the suspenseful season finale.

“The relationship between Grant Ward and Skye takes center stage as the two of them must confront some uncomfortable – and life-threatening – truths,” said Jeph Loeb, Head of Marvel TV. “Stephanie Hans was the perfect choice to bring the tortured relationship between Skye and Ward to life, with the threat of Deathlok figuring so prominently into this new episode of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”

Each poster released in this series will be available as limited edition high quality prints at http://www.marvelstore.com/ArtOfLevel7 with “Nothing Personal” scheduled to go on sale Friday, April 25th at 1:00am PST. These individually numbered prints are strictly limited to 100 copies and once they’re sold out, they won’t be available again from Marvel.

“First, I have to say I am incredibly proud that Marvel has given me the chance to collaborate on the Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. series,” said Stephanie Hans. “I have been a huge fan of Joss Whedon ever since I watched my first Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode and I nearly fainted when I learned one of my paintings would be associated with his work. For this illustration, I have been looking for a kind of Klimt-esque mood. I wanted the picture to talk about the inner torment Skye is going through. You can see it in her eyes that even though she’s holding Agent Ward with all of her strength, she is not really with him at the same time: she’s fighting with herself.”

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Lands on the Cover of Entertainment Weekly

Entertainment Weekly has just debuted the cover to their next issue and it features Joss Whedon and “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” stars Chloe Bennet and Clark Gregg. In the issue, EW says Whedon talks about all things “Buffy,” “Firefly,” and The Avengers, but he made time to drop an interesting quote about the upcoming TV series too.

“This is basically a TV series of ‘The Zeppo’ [episode of Buffy], which was a very deliberate deconstruction of a Buffy episode in order to star the person who mattered the least,” Whedon says. “The people who are ignored are the people I’ve been writing as my heroes from day one. There’s a world of superheroes and superstars, they’re celebrities, and that’s a complicated world — particularly complicated for people who don’t have the superpowers, the disenfranchised. Now obviously there’s going to be hijinks and hilarity and sex and gadgets and all the things that made people buy the comics. But that’s what the show really is about to me, and that’s what Clark Gregg embodies: the Everyman.”

“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” will premiere on ABC on Tuesday, September 24 at 8 p.m.

For more with Whedon — including his love-hate relationship with Twitter and why he’s worried about our sequel culture — pick up the new issue of Entertainment Weekly, on stands Friday, August 23.
