Michael Jackson’s Thriller To Be Released In IMAX 3D

Halloween is just a round the corner and along with the frightful holiday comes some interesting songs, one of which is Michael Jackson’s Thriller. Now IMAX and the estate of Michael Jackson have announced they are partnering up to release the digitally remastered 3D version of the iconic music video. Michael Jackson’s Thriller 3D will be released on September 21 in IMAX theatres, only in the US and Canada, ahead of showings of Amblin’s The House with a Clock in Its Walls.  The release of Thriller 3D will be limited to only one week.

The music video for Jackson’s iconic song was directed by big time Hollywood director John Landis and written by Landis and Jackson. Optimum Productions has partnered with Landis to remaster the original film and upgrade the original score and music to 5.7, 7.1 and Atmos standards to make sure Thriller is of the highest quality. Thriller was then handed off to IMAX to be upgraded digitally to be optimized fully in IMAX theaters.

John Branca and John McClain, co-executors of the Estate of Michael Jackson has said “Michael loved to give his fans the latest and greatest in technology and entertainment experiences so a partnership with IMAX to bring Thriller 3D to theaters made perfect sense. Fans are going to love this.”

From the Thriller album, the song of the same name was performed by Jackson, but the lyrics and music were written by Rod Temperton. The music video was released in 1983 at AVCO Theatre in Los Angeles and was sold out for three weeks straight. Due to it’s humongous populartiy, Thriller is the only music video to be inducted into National Film Registry by the Library of Congress.

Michael Jackson Scream Album Set For Release On September 29

On September 29, Epic/Legacy Recordings, in collaboration with The Estate of Michael Jackson, will release Michael Jackson Scream, a collection of 13 of his all-time most electrifying and danceable tracks including “Ghosts,” “Torture,” “Thriller,” and “Dirty Diana.” Additionally, Scream includes a newly created bonus track, “Blood on the Dance Floor X Dangerous,” a high-energy five-song mashup from the acclaimed remixer The White Panda who created a seamless new musical experience.

Starting today, fans will be able to access the “Blood on The Dance Floor X Dangerous” mash-up of “Blood on the Dance Floor,” “Dangerous,” “This Place Hotel,” “Leave Me Alone,” and “Is It Scary.” The mash-up by The White Panda premieres exclusively on Shazam where for the two hours between 7am-9am ET fans can Shazam any Michael Jackson song and unlock the newly imagined track.

The track will also be offered as an instant grat track when you pre-order Scream digitally and will be available on all streaming platforms.

The choice of tracks for Scream reflects The King of Pop’s affection for this time of the year and its themes of costumes and disguise, darkness and light, character transformations and surprise. The album will be available in two physical formats, CD and glow-in-dark vinyl (available October 27) each containing a poster unique to the format. Fittingly, the poster and cover art conceal the first ever AR (augmented reality) experience created for a Michael Jackson project.

Each track on Scream is remarkable in its own way. For example, “Dirty Diana,” was the fifth consecutive No. 1 song from the album Bad which shattered records for consecutive chart topping singles off a single album; “Thriller,” penned by Rod Temperton, was the seventh of an unprecedented seven Top 10 singles from Thriller, the biggest-selling album of all time; and the Top 5 hit “Scream” is the only duet between Michael Jackson and his sister Janet. Also included are fan favorites from The Jacksons’ albums – “Torture” and “This Place Hotel” (the first single to be written, composed, and arranged solely by Michael); and, making its first appearance on a Michael Jackson album, “Somebody’s Watching Me,” the international 1985 hit by Rockwell featuring an iconic hook sung by Michael.

Fans are invited to Official Michael Jackson Scream Album Celebrations this fall. These celebrations will take place in six major cities around the world: Paris, London, Sydney, Berlin, Los Angeles, and Tokyo. The events will include screenings of Michael’s seven short films from the Scream album including the full-length 40 minute Michael Jackson’s Ghosts, rarely seen following its initial screening at the 1997 Cannes Film Festival. An after party will follow. More information on the Official Michael Jackson Scream Album Celebrations will be announced in the coming days.

XSCAPE, Long Awaited New Music From Michael Jackson Out On May 13, 2014

michael-jackson-xscape

On May 13, 2014 Epic Records, in conjunction with the Estate of Michael Jackson, will release XSCAPE, an album of new music by the internationally beloved music icon and King of Pop, Michael Jackson. The project features eight new tracks, which the world will be hearing for the very first time on the new album. For the ultimate fan experience, XSCAPE will also be available in a Deluxe Edition, which includes all of the sourced Michael Jackson recordings in their original form. The XSCAPE standard and Deluxe Editions are available for pre-order beginning April 1 on iTunes.com/MichaelJackson and elsewhere, and available at all retailers worldwide on May 13.

XSCAPE is executive produced by Epic Records Chairman and CEO L.A. Reid, who, after an initial mining of Jackson’s archives by the Estate, was granted unlimited access to the treasures representing four decades of material on which Jackson had completed his vocals.

Reid curated the final list of recordings to deliver to the producers, who retooled the production to add a fresh, contemporary sound that retains Jackson’s essence and integrity. It’s a process Reid calls “contemporizing.” The album’s lead producer, Timbaland was one of a handful of producers Reid believed had the gravitas, depth and range to creatively engage with Jackson’s work. Additional producers include global hitmakers Rodney Jerkins, Stargate, Jerome “Jroc” Harmon and John McClain.

The title of this album honors Michael’s album naming process. He always chose a song from the album to name his projects and, beginning with THRILLER, used only one word titles, each with an edgy quality to them. This is true of the new project. Written by Michael Jackson and Jerkins, and produced by Jackson and Jerkins, “Xscape” has further significance in that it is the one track on the album that was ‘contemporized’ by the producer who recorded it originally in the studio with Michael.

XSCAPE is a long awaited collection of exciting new music that will thrill the legions of fans of one of the world’s most revered and best-selling artists, as well as attract a whole new generation discovering his artistry for the first time. In conjunction with the release of XSCAPE, Epic / Sony Music will launch an unprecedented global campaign with the One Sony sister companies, Sony Corporation, Sony Mobile Communications, and Sony Network Entertainment International drawing from all of Sony’s strengths and consumer reach.

The track listing for the eagerly anticipated album is as follows:

1. “Love Never Felt So Good” feat. Justin Timberlake
2. “Chicago”
3. “Loving You”
4. “A Place With No Name”
5. “Slave to the Rhythm”
6. “Do You Know Where Your Children Are”
7. “Blue Gangsta”
8. “Xscape”

More news about Michael Jackson’s upcoming album will be revealed in the coming weeks. Keep visiting www.michaeljackson.com for new details.
