Nike Air Force 1 Sketch Sneaker

The Air Force 1’s simple design has made it a blank canvas for customization.

Nike’s latest version, the Sketch, celebrates this legacy with black, Sharpie-like schematic details. The hand-drawn look is applied to the Swoosh, while small notes spell out the shoe’s name, call out the lacing system, point to a sketch of the midsole Air unit, and represent the shoe’s original release date: 1982.

Release details and pricing have yet to be announced.

Nike Announces Adapt BB: Their $350 iPhone-Controlled Self-Adjusting Basketball Shoes

Today Nike announced new iPhone-controlled self-adjusting basketball shoes based on its latest FitAdapt technology.

Nike’s first smart shoe designed for on-court performance, the Nike Adapt BB delivers a consistent, customized fit that’s unique to every basketball player. With the Nike Adapt app, set and save your favorite fits, customize the lights and download updates to continuously improve your experience.

The Nike Adapt BB shoes feature an advanced power-lacing system with a custom motor that senses the tension needed by the foot and adjusts accordingly to ensure a snug fit. Using buttons on the shoe or the Nike Adapt app for smartphones, basketball players can adjust the fit on the fly during a game.

The shoes are equipped with a 505 mAh battery that can last between 10 and 20 days and charge wirelessly on Nike’s shoe-sized Qi-compatible mat in three hours.

The shoes are priced at $350 in the United States and will begin shipping on February 16, according to Nike’s online store.

Nike’s Self-Lacing HyperAdapt Sneaker Will Cost You $720

Nike revealed the price of its first self-lacing athletic shoe, the HyperAdapt 1.0 — a whopping $720.

Customers can book appointments there to try them on, or wait until later in December, when the sneakers are available at other stores and via the Nike+ app.

Select Nike+ app users will get early access to purchase the shoe on Nov. 28 for a limited time.

The black/white-blue lagoon color scheme will be available on Dec. 1 and a metallic silver/black-white sneaker will roll out later in the month.

The Nike HyperAdapt is the first self-lacing athletic shoe that Nike has released to the general public. It’s different from the Nike Mag, which is a replica of the self-lacing shoes worn by Marty McFly in “Back to the Future.” Only 89 pairs of the Nike Mag were made available to fans via lottery.

The HyperAdapt sneakers will be lightweight and rechargeable. The self-lacing mechanism of the shoe works more like automatic buckling — the way snow boots or roller blades tighten.

“When you step in, your heel will hit a sensor and the system will automatically tighten. Then there are two buttons on the side to tighten and loosen. You can adjust it until it’s perfect,” said Nike senior innovator Tiffany Beers.

How You Can Get A Pair of Nike Mag “Back To The Future” Shoes

2

Nike announced plans to release 89 pairs of the “Nike Mag” shoe through an online draw. The shoes light up and feature adaptive lacing—which lets a wearer push a button to tighten or loosen a shoe—making it a true replica to the footwear from the 1989 film Back to the Future Part II.

Contestants can pay $10 to enter the drawing, which will count as a donation to the Michael J. Fox Foundation. There’s no limit to the amount of tickets one can buy, so buying more gives the aspiring sneakerhead a greater chance of winning.

All of proceeds from the 2016 drawing—which runs from Oct. 4 through Oct. 11—will go to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, and one pair of Nike Mag shoes will also be auction live in three locations: Hong Kong, London, and New York.
