Rick Moranis is officially making his return to Hollywood for a reboot of Honey, I Shrunk the Kids.
The Ghostbusters, The Flintstones, Spaceballs and Parenthood star has closed a deal for Shrunk, which is the next installment in the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids franchise. Shrunk will premier on the big screen and not on the Disney+ streaming service.
Honey, I Shrunk the Kids was released in 1989 and focused on the Szalinski family after Moranis’ character accidentally shrinks his son, daughter and their next-door neighbor’s kids. Having been thrown out with the trash, the kids have to traverse the dangers of their own back yard in their effort to get home and returned to their normal size.
That film was followed by Honey, I Blew Up the Kid which was released in 1992 and Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves which came out in 1997. This was the last year that Rick Moranis was featured in film when he took a break from acting. As a huge fan of his work, I am thrilled to see him return.
