May The Schwartz Be With You – Jason Edmiston To Release Spaceballs Eyes Without A Face Prints On May 4

May the 4th is a very special day for fans of space fairy tales. There is one science fiction fable in particular, about a princess in distress, her robot assistant, a rugged hero and his hairy companion, all battling against a maniacal villain dressed in black, who is obsessed with controlling the universe. That movie is cool, but this is about Spaceballs, which is totally unique, and not like that other story at all.

Here are the details of Jason Edmiston’s celebration sale, called “May the Schwartz Be With You”:

“Surrounded by Assholes” and “My Own Best Friend” – limited edition Eyes Without A Face set. $70.

This is a set of 2, signed and matched numbered giclée prints.  Edition of 150. “Surrounded by Assholes” is oversized at 19″ x 8.5″, and “My Own Best Friend” is the traditional 9″ x 5″ size (both shown above together, for scale).

These prints are made with archival inks on acid-free paper. The colors in these prints are vibrant and perfectly matched to the original acrylic painting. The paper is heavy and has the texture of fine quality watercolor paper.

The prints will be released on Tuesday, May the 4th, at 12 Noon (EST,) HERE.

Rick Moranis To Guest Star On The Goldbergs As Dark Helmet

Rick Moranis (Ghostbusters, Honey I shrunk the Kids) will reprise his role of Dark Helmet in an upcoming Season 5 episode of ABC’s The Goldbergs. He’ll reprise the Darth Vader parody from Mel Brooks’ 1986 Star Wars satire Spaceballs in a voice-only role, which series creator Adam F. Goldberg spent weeks trying to secure.

“I truly think Rick Moranis gave the most underrated and brilliant comedic performance in any ‘80s movie as Dark Helmet,” Goldberg said in a statement. “I’ve been a lifelong fan of his work and became obsessed with having him reprise the role on my show. As an added bonus, maybe this even gets ‘Spaceballs’ back in the conversation, and I can get my dream of helping make a sequel!”

Launched in 2013 and based on Goldberg’s childhood, The Goldbergs stars Wendi McLendon-Covey, Jeff Garlin, Sean Giambrone, Troy Gentile, Hayley Orrantia, George Segal, AJ Michalka and Sam Lerner, with narration by Patton Oswalt.

Moranis will reprise the role in Adam’s (Sean Giambrone) dreams as he “encounters Dark Helmet storming his bedroom to battle with the Schwartz.” The episode is set to air tomorrow night in the May 9 episode at 8pm ET/PT.

Help Make This LEGO Spaceballs Eagle 5 Winnebago A Real Thing!

1

You are looking at Captain Lone Starr’s spaceship the ‘Eagle 5’ and yes; it’s a Winnebago with wings! The space ship is used to save Princess Vespa from the evil President Skroob and Dark Helmet.

In 1986, comedy director, writer and actor Mel Brooks came with the science fiction parody film: Spaceballs. In 2016 it will be the 30th anniversary of Spaceballs! So let’s make it a good one with a Spaceball LEGO set!  Yogurt would say: “Merchandising, merchandising, where the real money from the movie is made. Spaceballs-the T-shirt, Spaceballs-the Coloring Book, Spaceballs-the Lunch box, Spaceballs-the Breakfast Cereal, Spaceballs-the Flame Thrower.” And now possibly a Spaceballs-the LEGO set!

The set will include the ‘Eagle 5’ and Captain Lone Starr with his Schwartz-saber. Also included are the secret hyper jets in the rear of the ‘Eagle 5’! (No one will expect a Winnebago having secret hyper jet, not even Dark helmet). The Eagle 5 ‘Hero for Hire’ logo will come as a printed piece with the set.

If you like the model, please support it HERE and may the Schwartz be with you!

Timothy Pittides in conjunction with The Bottleneck Gallery present the New York Comic Con exclusive screen print “Return of the Schwartz”. Inspired by Mel Brook’s beloved film, Spaceballs.

” I wanted to give this screen print a comic book feel while basing it off of Drew Sturzan’s wonderful Star Wars posters. A parody screenprint for a parody trilogy that doesn’t exist based off a parody, doesn’t get more Mel Brooks than that.” – Timothy Pittides

The print will be available at Bottleneck Gallery booth #2167 on Friday, October 11th at noon. Artist Timothy Pittides will be on hand for a two hour window to sign each print, starting at drop time. If any prints remain from the weekend, the remaining stock will be available online soon after the convention.
