Go Behind The Scenes of Disney Parks Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

The Walt Disney Company has released a new behind-the-scenes video for the upcoming Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, an all-new set of attractions coming to both Disneyland and Walt Disney World in 2019. The video offers a first look at two of the new attractions, Rise of the Resistance and Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run.

Both east and west coast versions of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will allow guests to visit a remote trading port on the edge of wild space, where Star Wars characters and their stories come to life – and where guests will find themselves in the middle of the action. The lands will feature two major attractions that put guests in the middle of a battle between the First Order and the Resistance. Each attraction – and even the land itself – will offer guests the chance to immerse themselves in the Star Wars universe like never before.

“Rise of the Resistance” will make guests feel like they’re on a Star Destroyer inside a hangar bay while “Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run” will give guests the opportunity to fly the Millennium Falcon, piloting the ship, shooting blasters or preparing for hyperspace – all while completing a critical mission. But how you perform on the mission holds even bigger stakes: perform with skill and you may earn extra galactic credits, while bringing the ship back banged up could put you on the list of a bounty hunter. End up on Harkos’s list and you may face a problem if you show up at the local cantina!

Guests will also encounter many familiar faces inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, including BB-8, Chewbacca, members of the First Order and – among many others – Rex, the troublesome pilot you may remember from Star Tours, who takes on a new role in this land as the DJ at the cantina. At the cantina guests will be able to try unique concoctions like blue milk. Nearby, they’ll also be able to acquire trinkets and treasures from across the galaxy. You won’t be buying ordinary Star Wars merchandise or T-shirts at the gift shops, but rather special figures and vehicles (like an AT-AT) built by Batuu’s female Toydarians. The toys are inspired by designs from films like The Force Awakens, Rogue One and The Last Jedi.

A Star Wars-inspired resort will also debut as part of the new Disney 360 vacation concept. This new vacation experience will be a living adventure that allows guests to immerse themselves in an entirely new form of Disney storytelling. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will open in summer 2019 at Disneyland Resort and in late fall 2019 at Walt Disney World Resort.

New Sneak Peak At Disney’s Star Wars Land

The Star Wars Land coming to Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts had their groundbreaking in April, and starting today Disneyland park guests can get a glimpse of what’s in store for the new immersive experience. A new image has been unveiled on the fence along Big Thunder Trail in Frontierland – one of the entry points to a never-before-seen planet in the Star Wars galaxy – revealing more about what guests will find in this all-new Star Wars Land.

Nestled between towering spires of rock, this thriving port contains a seemingly familiar architecture of markets, landing zones and buildings. Look closely and you may find hints of some of the experiences coming to the park, including the Millennium Falcon peeking out of one of the cargo bays, marking the location where guests will get the opportunity to pilot the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy.

The 14-acre Star Wars Land will be the largest-ever single-themed land expansion at Disneyland Resort. Disney has already promised more updates in the months to come about the Naboo-like planet, as well as the citizens, aliens and droids who populate it.

Harrison Ford will be unveiling some of the plans for upcoming Star Wars attractions at Disneyland and Walt Disney World in a TV special set to air February 21, 2016

The Wonderful World of Disney special, which will be broadcast on Disney-owned ABC, will celebrate the 60-year legacy of the Disneyland theme park with participants including Elton John, Josh Gad, and Witney Carson.

Fans who attended Disney’s D23 fan expo last August got a sneak preview of the 14-acre Star Wars additions planned for the parks in Anaheim, California and Orlando, Florida.

The unnamed Star Wars world will be inhabited by humanoids, aliens, and droids, and “is one of the last ports before wild space,” according to Disney chairman and CEO Robert Iger.

“Every store and restaurant will be operated by local inhabitants, making each experience deeply immersive. Nothing in the land will be out of character or stray from mythology. By the way, we’re currently casting for roles, so if you live on the Outer Rim there maybe a job for you,” he joked.

Among the attractions will be a cantina, like the one seen in 1977’s original Star Wars, with familiar creatures from various parts of the series. It will also include a ride that allows guests to take the controls of Han Solo’s starship freighter the Millennium Falcon as it swoops into the center of an aerial battle between the First Order and the Resistance – the new film’s version of the Empire and the Rebellion.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter Opens at Universal Studios Hollywood in 2016

potter-2016

With the original Orlando attraction planned for expansion, “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” is heading to the West coast. Universal Studios Hollywood confirmed that a Los Angeles-based “Wizarding World” attraction will open its doors in 2016.

Inspired by the magical world created by J.K. Rowling and brought to life in the Warner Bros. films, “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” at Universal Studios Hollywood will be a fully immersive land designed for the entire family that brings the Harry Potter fiction and films to life with detail and authenticity. Similar to the Orlando Resort-themed land that opened in 2010, the Hollywood experience will be faithful to the visual landscape of the fiction and films, including Hogwarts castle that will serve as the iconic focal point of the themed environment.

“The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” is a collaboration between J.K. Rowling, Warner Bros. Entertainment and Universal Parks and Resorts.
